A Brisbane man received a four-month jail sentence for one of three breaches of a domestic violence order.

The 34-year-old man pleaded guilty to all three charges when he appeared, via video link, in Sandgate Magistrates Court this week.

The offences occurred last year at Bald Hills on May 11, and at Taigum on May 13 and October 16.

The police prosecutor said the most serious offence occurred on May 11 “given there was physical violence and damage to property”.

“The complainant was struck to her face and was bleeding from her mouth,” he told the court.

Magistrate Jennifer Batts sentenced the man to four months jail for the May 11 breach of a domestic violence order. However she took into account the 70 days he had already served in custody and ordered his parole release the same day.

The man also pleaded guilty to breaching a bail condition – to have no contact with a person except in certain circumstances – on March 2, and two further breaches of bail conditions by failing to report on November 25 and December 20 last year.

He also pleaded guilty to four charges of stealing petrol from service stations at Taigum (on December 13, 2019 and January 5, 2020), Kedron (on December 29, 2019) and Virginia (on September 6, 2019).

The man’s solicitor said he was remorseful for his actions.

“He was suffering with his use of alcohol at the time of many of these offences,” she said.

Both the prosecutor and solicitor suggested the man would benefit from a period of supervision and the magistrate agreed.

She placed the man on an 18-month probation order for the other two breaches of a domestic violence order and the March 2 bail condition breach.

She convicted him, with no further punishment, on the other two breaches of bail and the four charges of stealing petrol.

The man was also ordered to pay a total of $95.50 restitution for the stealing offences.
