Traffic has returned to normal after firefighters managed to extinguish a house fire north of Brisbane this morning. A busy road has also just reopened.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said they received a call at 10.19am about black smoke coming from a house on Anzac Ave in Kallangur.

Four crews were originally on scene to tackle the fire.

Police confirmed Anzac Ave outbound towards North Lakes was down to one lane but had been reopened by 11.40am.

Motorists experienced significant delays but traffic was now almost back to normal.

The Queensland Ambulance Service said its officers were on scene but there were no patients to treat. A spokesman said everyone living at the house was accounted for.

He said the property was fully alight and that the fire had caused significant damage.

The fire was mostly under control by 10.47am, however one crew was still putting out hot spots.

The fire investigation unit is expected to search the property this morning for possible causes of the blaze.
