A Central Queensland rodeo clown has told a court he is ready to turn his life around and be a supportive partner and dad after spending four months in custody for dealing drugs.

Jye Holt, 41, faced the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday, October 25 and pleaded guilty to six offences including, most seriously, entering a dwelling with intent by break, as well as forgery, fraud, and unlawful use of a vehicle.

His appearance came about a month after he was sentenced to 21 months' prison in the Rockhampton District Court for 10 counts of supplying a dangerous drug and one of possessing a thing used in a drug crime.

The sentence was suspended for an operational period of two years after he served 122 days in custody.

Prosecutor Senior Sergeant Sanghyun Koh told the Magistrates Court Holt was charged with break and enter after he and another person smashed and unlocked the glass rear door of an Alton Downs home on May 27, 2020.

The court heard the pair walked inside the home, broke through another locked door, and gained entry to a room containing a number of gun safes.

Snr Sgt Koh said they moved some of the safes outside to the residence’s open carport, but fled the scene when the victim occupant returned home from work.

Jye Holt, 41, pleaded guilty on August 5 in Rockhampton District Court to 10 counts of supplying a dangerous drug and one of possessing a thing used in a drug crime.

Defence solicitor Trent Playford told the court Holt’s co-accused received nine months’ imprisonment for his role in the offending.

He said his own client, a Thangool man, had struggled with “drug issues” in the past but had since made significant steps in a positive direction.

Holt was said to have a 2.5-year-old child with his current partner and four children with his ex-wife.

He had spent some four months in presentence custody in relation to the offences and had been on Supreme Court bail for close to two years.

Mr Playford said Holt had indicated he was now motivated to be a supportive partner, son, and father, and had hopes to continue working on properties as he had previously done.

Acting magistrate Ross Woodford took into account Holt’s recent District Court sentence, his work history, and his personal circumstances when deciding an appropriate penalty.

The Queensland dad was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment to be suspended for an operational period of 12 months after serving 122 days.

Mr Woodford declared the 122 days Holt spent in presentence custody time already served under the sentence.
