More than 80 new blocks of land are being made available across Brisbane as part of a young development company’s pipeline to tackle the housing crisis in southeast Queensland.
A new land subdivision was approved at Taigum in Brisbane’s northside in September with the project from local developers Chapter Two providing 36 blocks of land through the 2.6 hectare site.
Chapter Two, which was founded by Brisbane residents Jon Quayle and Oliver Bagheri in 2020, reportedly purchased the site at 321 Roghan Rd for more than $5 million.
The project, worth around $20 million and called Cordyline at Taigum, was originally planned as a townhouse development before Mr Quayle and Mr Bagheri worked with the Brisbane City Council to adjust the plans to give home buyers an opportunity to secure their own land.
Cordyline will be made up of a selection of smaller sites, which are adjacent to hectares of parkland less than 20km from the Brisbane CBD.
Mr Quayle said while Brisbane has a pipeline of new apartment and townhouse developments planned for the next decade, land to build your own home was in short supply amid forecasts for continued strong growth in the city’s population.
He also said many people thought the only way to build new in Brisbane was to knock down an older home in an expensive inner-city location but this was not the case.
“We are currently bringing more than 80 new blocks of land to Brisbane market by seeking out smaller subdivisions in established areas and taking a more innovative approach to development.
“For example, lot sizes at Cordyline Taigum will be around 300 sqm on average
and we expect house and land packages to start from $800,000, which is great value for
Brisbane.”
On top of the 36 new blocks at Cordlyline at Taigum, Chapter Two has more subdivisions across Brisbane, including in the city’s north and southeast, bringing their total to more than 80 packages of land available.
“We also have more than 20 blocks available right now at other locations around Brisbane,
including Fig Tree Pocket in the west, McDowall and Bridgeman Downs on the
northside and another 21 lots about to start construction and launch to the market at
Tingalpa in Brisbane’s east,” Mr Quayle said.
Cordyline Taigum is located next to existing parkland with walking trails and pathways through to the Cabbage Tree Creek reserve.
The land is also within proximity to the Taigum Shopping Village, schools, sporting fields and other services.
Mr Quayle said land sizes will range from 266 to 406 sqm.
