Hundreds of dollars worth of drugs were found on two young Brisbane men during a voluntary pat down in Petrie, turning their night out on the town into a day out at the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court.
Police encountered Dylan Luke Minetto, from Bray Park, Patrick Bradford O’Callaghan, from Toowoomba, and a female friend hanging out at Mathieson Park just after 8.30pm on Saturday, October 3.
According to the police prosecutor, police took up with Minetto, who was urinating at the time and asked to search his person.
The search revealed a small clip seal bag with 0.9 grams of white power, which Minetto told police was cocaine he’d paid $370 for.
O’Callaghan had a gram of brown powder that he admitted was MDMA.
The men appeared at court today and each pleaded guilty to a single charge of possession of a dangerous drug.
Neither of the men had prior criminal convictions, and were therefore sentenced to a program of drug diversion with Life Lived Well as part of a $400 good behaviour bond, to remain current for four months.
No convictions were recorded.
Magistrate Trevor Morgan told the men their future depended on their commitment to overcome the dual hurdles of drug diversion and good behaviour.
“If you trip over either of these hurdles it will come back to bite you, and it’ll cost you,” he told them.
