‘Gutless’: Anonymous Karen terrorises north Brisbane neighbourhood

A couple of horn toots were all it took for a Bracken Ridge resident to send ‘offensive and racist’ letters to neighbours.

Neighbour’s brutal act in rubbish bin war

An anonymous neighbourhood “Karen” is terrorising the Bracken Ridge community with letters sent to several homes complaining of “cars beeping”, ambulances and gossiping about sick children.

In a document posted to Facebook, Gareth St resident Seran Paton revealed the contents of one such letter signed by “Your increasingly annoyed neighbour”.

In it, the neighbour bemoans the comings and going of Gareth St visitors and the “disrespectful honking of (their) car horns”.

“What don’t you understand about it being noisy and disturbing for others who live around you?” they wrote.

“Apart from being illegal, we don’t need to know when your visitors leave.

“If everyone on the street were to do the same every time a visitor or visiting tradie leaves I am pretty sure you would not tolerate this nonsense.”

The letter writer goes on to say how they’ve been watching Ms Paton’s home and have noticed she has a sick child who requires frequent visits from paramedics.

Creepier still, the letter writer admits to digging for more information “from secondary sources” to discover why the ambulance is so often outside the home.

Ms Paton said the letter was one of eight sent over the last couple of years and called on the “gutless” neighbour to approach her neighbours in person to address any legitimate concerns.

“It’s very intimidating to be getting harassed like this,” she said.

“And gossiping is for high school, isn’t it?”

Ms Paton said the letters have been sent to five separate homes, and while they focus primarily on cars beeping, they have also complained about too many family members visiting residents, cardboard left outside a home and have been known to contain “offensive and racist” comments.

“It’s utterly ridiculous,” she said.

“It makes me very anxious to know that someone’s looking at our every move.”

The letter writer has yet to be identified, though Ms Paton said she has a strong suspicion as to who it might be.

The letter garnered significant attention on social media, where it attracted over 450 comments and prompted surrounding residents to toy with the idea of setting up a car convey to drive through the street and toot their horns at the same time in protest.
