STATE Member for McConnel Grace Grace MP has just opened her new electorate office between the iconic retail and dining precinct Gasworks Plaza and popular Newstead Brewing Co.
Ms Grace, who only lives up the road from the commercial site located on the corner of Longland and Doggett streets, said she was “happy to be located here in the middle of the electorate”
“This is the fastest growing area of the electorate,” the Minister for Education and Minister for Industrial Relations said.
“It is a beautiful area of McConnel.
“It is more centrally located, so people can easily come and see me whenever they want. And we have adequate parking there for visitors as well.
“I think it is a great location with good access for my constituents to come and see me.”
Ms Grace’s former Spring Hill electorate office, which she had occupied since she was first elected in 2007, was originally former Queensland Premier Peter Beattie’s office when he was the Member for Brisbane Central (which was later renamed McConnel).
“ … That office has been occupied for a long time,” Ms Grace said.
“It didn’t really meet the safety and disability access standards that are now required.”
The McConnel electorate is named after Mary McConnel, who established Queensland’s first children’s hospital and public school. It encompasses the CBD, Bowen Hills, Fortitude Valley, Spring Hill, Herston, part of Kelvin Grove, New Farm, Newstead and Teneriffe.
