Developers are set to up the ante with aged care facilities in Brisbane’s north, with plans to construct a massive resort-style residential care facility in Boondall.
The Pesdev Group are seeking council approval to build a 103 bed high care facility in addition to an 80 unit residential care and retirement facility over four buildings at 85 and 91 Stanworth Rd, Boondall.
If approved, the expansive 4697sq m facility will provide a significant boost to the suburb’s capacity for aged care, as there are currently only ten beds at the pre-existing St Vincent’s Care Services facility.
Not only will the project offer more beds, but it will also offer its residents more to do, with plans for a hair salon, cafe, gym and several communal spaces, both indoors and outdoors.
It would also feature offices, a large-scale laundry, activity rooms, and nurses stations in each building.

Developers said the architecturally-designed building, commissioned to Red Door Architecture, aimed to provide an impressive array of amenities which catered to all levels of care – something that was much needed given the needs of a rapidly ageing population.
Several pre-existing buildings would be torn down and a 20m wide tree protection zone would be created should the proposal get the green light.
