A man charged with biting a police officer on the arm and refusing to let go until he was tasered will be tested for diseases. But police refused to bring him to court for his mention. Here’s the reason they gave for his absence.

A man charged with biting a police officer on the arm and refusing to let go until he was tasered will be tested for diseases.

Luke Spencer Murphy was arrested on Saturday after he was allegedly seen getting into and turning on a car that had been reported stolen.

Police opened the car doors and removed the keys before Mr Murphy allegedly bit one of the officers on the bicep.

Police allege Mr Murphy would not let go and had to be tasered.

He has been charged with three counts of serious assault of a police officer, one count each of evade police, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, illegally possessing fireworks, possessing a knife in public, possessing anything used in the commission of a crime along with two counts each of possessing dangerous drugs and stealing.

Police prosecutor Graham Turner applied for Mr Murphy to be tested for diseases.

When Magistrate Trevor Morgan moved to bring Mr Murphy into the courtroom to get his opinion on the test Sgt Turner said Mr Murphy had been “extremely violent” since being arrested.

Sgt Turner said Mr Murphy had been aggressive towards people inside the cells.

Mr Murphy was not brought up to the courtroom and the order was made in his absence.

The matter will eventually proceed to the Brisbane District Court. It will be mentioned again at Pine Rivers Magistrates Court in October.
