A LARGE mosaic of Brisbane’s Story Bridge is the centrepiece of the city’s first LEGO certified store which opens at Chermside tomorrow morning.
Ryan ‘The BrickMan’ McNaught made the mosaic, which features 137,311 LEGO bricks and took 337 hours, or 42 working days, to build.
The BrickMan also created a custom 3D ‘Aussie Adventurer’ model for the new store at Westfield Chermside.
It is made from 70,000 bricks and took 396 hours, or almost 50 working days, to build.
The store is floor to ceiling LEGO, with everything from rockets and cars to houses and boats.
There are sets from Harry Potter, Star Wars, Friends and Frozen.
There are also hard-to-find sets and sets exclusive to certified stores. These include a gingerbread house and Harley Quinn’s motorbike.
$1 A WEEK FOR THE FIRST 8 WEEKS. Min. cost $4
As well as boxes of LEGO to buy, there are also models made up under glass — so there are plenty of things to look at.
Little people can even sit in a LEGO model of a car.
Other elements at the Chermside store, which feature in all LEGO certified stores, are:
■ Pick A Brick Wall — an array of pieces to select from at any given time.
■ Build Your Own Minifigure stations — custom build your own LEGO Minifigure, including heads, torsos, legs, hats and accessories.
■ LEGO play tables giving people the opportunity to get creative and build whatever they imagine.
The doors open at 9am on Saturday on Level 1, Westfield Chermside and the first 100 people in store will receive a free gift.
