Couple to face court for property crime arrests, North Brisbane

A man and woman will face court on more than 20 charges after an alleged armed robbery in a stolen car which also caused a crash at the weekend.

A man and woman will face court on 20 charges after police arrested them for an alleged armed robbery in a stolen car at the weekend.

North Brisbane detectives charged two people with a total of 29 property and vehicle related offences after attending a disturbance in Lutwyche yesterday afternoon, Sunday February, 5.

Police were to a Lutwyche Rd electronics retail store around 4.35pm following reports of a man, allegedly armed with a knife, acting aggressively inside the business.

Police said the man then left the store and entered the vehicle he had arrived in, an alleged stolen sedan with a female passenger.

The pair fled, travelling north on Lutwyche Rd, allegedly driving on the wrong side of Gympie Road at one point.

Polair was tracking the vehicle when it was involved in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Gympie and Murphy roads at Chermside at about 4.50pm.

The pair fled on foot but were later apprehended by police.

It will be further alleged a search of the vehicle located a quantity of dangerous drugs believed to be methylamphetamine.

A 21-year-old Upper Coomera man has been charged with 13 offences some of which include – one count each of going armed so as to cause fear, dangerous driving, evade police, drive without a licence while suspended and three counts of stealing and two counts of receiving tainted property.

He was denied police bail and is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today, February 6.

A 39-year-old Mount Gravatt East woman was charged with 16 offences some of which include – six counts of stealing, four of receiving tainted property, two counts each of enter dwelling and commit and enter premises and commit an indictable offence. She is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 21.

The charges relate to alleged recent property offences committed in the Brisbane area.

The car was reported stolen from an Underwood home on January 26.
