PROJECTS costing $24 million are set to boost two northside high schools as well as keep local tradespeople in work during the COVID-19 crisis.
They are underway at Ferny Grove and Mitchelton state high schools and are part of the State Government’s $235 million Renewing Our Schools (ROS) program.
State Labor MP for Ferny Grove Mark Furner said the projects were creating nearly 700 jobs statewide and more than 70 in his electorate.
Mr Furner said work had started at Mitchelton State High School building the new Information and Technology Hub with a resource centre, and the refurbishment of, and extension to, the existing hall.

“Early site works have begun for the new multipurpose sports and performing arts hall at Ferny Grove State High,” he said.
“Construction has also started on the refurbishment and extension to the existing administration building.
“It’s really pleasing to know that this program is keeping local tradies in the workforce which is crucial during these challenging times.”
All of the projects, being undertaken by Bryant Building Contractors, are due to be finished by the end of 2020.
Education Minister Grace Grace said the Renewing Our Schools program would see the delivery of significant infrastructure upgrades to 26 Queensland state schools.
