Cr Greer, who will remain in her position until the March election, said she had enjoyed her time as a council staff member and a councillor for both Pine Rivers Shire and Moreton Bay Regional councils.

“I have made the choice to retire and will be looking forward to spending more time with my family,” she said.

“To the Mayor and councillors of Moreton Bay Regional Council, I value the support, advice and friendship that you have given me during my time as a councillor.

“To all council employees, past and present and especially my personal assistant, Leanne Stewart, I express my deepest thanks and appreciation for the amazing work that you do.

“To those councillors standing again, I wish you well for the coming election.”

Cr Greer said she was proud to represent and support individuals, communities, sporting and special interest groups across the region over the past 13 years.

“I appreciate the personal support they have provided to me, but more importantly, I thank them all for the valued contributions they have made in making Moreton Bay region a better place to live,” she said.

Cr Greer was embroiled in controversy when she accepted $2488.35 during the 2016 election in campaign funds from Moreton Futures Trust, made up of contributions from mostly developers — including The Village Retirement Group which plans to develop the North Lakes Resort Golf Club.

As such, and the fact she lived close to the golf course, she was advised by the Integrity Commissioner not to participate in any discussion over the development and was unable to represent residents in the matter.

“To contradict the Act could result in jail time,” she said at the time.

Mango Hill resident Jodie Shipway is currently the sole confirmed candidate to contest the 2020 election for Division 4.
