The developers behind a proposed unit block north of Brisbane say it could open a new market and cater to a growing area which has recently seen the addition of a university.

ZTJ Holdings Pty Ltd has lodged a development application with Moreton Bay Regional Council for an eight storey, 84 unit, residential development at 250 Gympie Road Strathpine.

The 84 units would be two bedrooms each with communal open space, swimming pool, seating, dining and landscaping proposed for level two.

Two retail tenancies have been proposed on the ground floor with 108 total carparking spaces and 50 bicycle parking spots.

Design Vibe is the designer of this development and its director Scott Koning said the building could fill the void of medium market apartments in the area, help address the rental crisis and would target USC Petrie students requiring accommodation.

“With its proximity backing virtually onto the train station and fronting Gympie Rd and opposite a major shopping centre we believe it has great accessibility to the city and facilities including USC campus,” Mr Koning said.

“There are virtually no competing developments in this area that is dominated by housing and townhouse predominantly.”

Mr Koning said the cost of constructing the development or to rent out a room is unknown at this point due to escalations in the industry.
