A 53-year-old alcoholic screamed abuse at strangers and jumped on top of a parked car in drunken desperation for the Kallangur BWS to open its doors, the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court heard today.

Police officers were called to reports of a woman yelling at passers-by and wandering through the nearby KFC drive-through at 7.30am on October 23.

According to police prosecutor sergeant Graham Turner, police attended to find Mellice Repoam sitting outside of the bottle shop with a half-emptied box of cask wine beside her.

Police gave Repoam a warning, tipped out the liquor and left the scene.

One hour later, however, the police were called back.

Repoam had continued her drunken tirade and jumped onto the front bonnet of a parked car, causing scratches and dents to the vehicle.

Police escorted Repoam to a place of safety.

The court heard Repoam has significant issues with alcohol exacerbated by her recent difficulties in obtaining work.

“She has been in and out of rehab,” said duty lawyer Jane Bruxner from KLM Solicitors.

“She is very remorseful, and can’t recall the incident at all.”

Repoam pleaded guilty to one charge of public nuisance and one charge of wilful damage. She was fined $300, ordered to pay $750 restitution to the owner of the car and her conviction was recorded.
