TWO trailblazers in the world of media and public relations are locked in to speak at the Business Moreton Bay Region Interactive Luncheon Series in 2020.

Journalist, businesswoman, best-selling author, committed community and welfare contributor and Australian of the Year (2013) Ita Buttrose AC OBE will be the guest speaker at the luncheon in June.

Ita was the founding editor of Cleo magazine and was also editor of The Australian Women’s Weekly, the first woman to ever edit a major metropolitan newspaper in Australia as editor-in-chief of the Daily and Sunday Telegraphs, and the first female director of News Ltd Australia. She’s also served on the boards of Australian Consolidated Press and Television & Telecasters Pty Ltd, and edited the Sun-Herald in Sydney and ITA Magazine.

Ita’s worked in print, radio and television and has written 11 books.

Her contribution to the industry was recognised in 2017, when she was inducted in the Australian Media Hall of Fame. She’s presently the chair of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).

During the luncheon on June 26, she will share her insights into the industry that has made her a household name, and given her a profile she can use to support charitable causes including Arthritis Australia and Dementia Australia.

Before then, communications innovator and entrepreneur Roxy Jacenko will offer a different take on the industry during the Interactive Business Luncheon on February 28.

Roxy is an entrepreneur and mother-of-two who has created five businesses, written several books, become a media identity and launched her own reality show.

She’s the force behind Sweaty Betty PR, The Ministry of Talent, Social Union, 18 Communications, Pixie’s Bows and Roxy Jacenko Accessories, and known for her bold approach and drive to make every project successful.

Roxy launched her now high-profile public relations agency Sweaty Betty in 2004, and has a reputation for identifying trends and creating niche industries.

In 2012, she predicted the rise of the digital influencer and created The Ministry of Talent – Australia’s first dedicated influencer and creative talent management agency.

In 2018, she launched social media content creation and management agency Social Union, providing services for brands looking to elevate their social presence.

This was followed by 18 Communications, a PR and marketing agency dedicated to helping brands reach Chinese consumers both in Australia and abroad.

Expect laugh-out-loud honesty and no-nonsense business advice when she speaks at the business luncheon. Tickets are expected to sell quickly.
