There’ll be a whole lotta love for Dayboro’s creative community at a free event on August 25.
LOVE Dayboro Art Festival is returning after a successful debut last year, showcasing art, community, creativity and music in the heart of town.
It’s organised by volunteers from the Dayboro Community Hall and School of the Arts Committee, including Sue Flinders and Stephanie Sinclair.
Sue says the concept came from a survey of residents, which showed they wanted an art exhibition, makers’ market and photo installation throughout Lions Park.
The event became much more than that, but organisers ensure it maintained a local focus and friendly vibe.
“It showcases Dayboro, the hidden talents of Dayboro,” Sue says.
This year, LOVE Dayboro will include an artisan market showcasing handmade items from across the region, at the corner of Williams and Heathwood streets (opposite the IGA); a photographic exhibition about Dayboro Life at Lions Park, Williams St, Dayboro; ‘Elvis’ playing music on the veranda of the Ray White building in Williams St, Dayboro; and a visual art exhibition at the community hall in Bradley St, Dayboro.
“It will be just as beautiful as last year,” Stephanie says.
“It had such a lovely atmosphere. People were happy to support local artisans.”
There will be about 40 stalls, 50 photos on display, and 16 artists exhibiting their work, including Mam Ohman.
The Dayboro artist, who creates masterpieces using paper and cardboard, will also run paper flower making classes for members of the public at the event.
