It’s showtime across the Moreton Bay Region

From fireworks to sideshow alley, showbags and agricultural displays, show societies across the region have been hard at work preparing for the 2019 show season. It’s about to begin.

FROM fireworks to sideshow alley, showbags and agricultural displays, show societies across the region have been hard at work preparing for the 2019 show season.

Caboolture Show, June 7-9

The first show across the region each year is always action packed. This year’s show will be no different, featuring wild rides, fireworks displays, monster trucks and a demolition derby. Held across three days from June 7-9, the show has something for the whole family. Australia’s Largest Jet Truck Firestorm will zip around the ring and the barrel race shootout always draws a crowd. Popular entertainers Jamie Dunn, Agro and Ranger Stacey will also be back this year. Tickets are $10 adults (pre-purchased) or $15 at the gate, $6 teens and concessions (pre-purchased) or $8 at the gate, free for primary school children (with an adult), or $3. The showgrounds are at 140 Beerburrum Rd, Caboolture.

Woodford Show, June 21-22

The longest-running show in the Moreton Bay Region started in 1911. There will be plenty for the children to do at this year’s event, with rides, a reptile show and petting zoo. Friday is known as the locals day, and focuses on getting children involved, with poultry displays, dog competitions, horse events, dairy and stud competitions and school displays. On Saturday night, there will be fireworks and a bull ride. The showgrounds are at 38 Neurum Rd, Woodford. Entry on Friday is $10 adults, $5 students and pensioners, free for children under 15. On Saturday, adult entry is $15, $10 for student/pensioners and free for children under 15.

Redcliffe Show, June 28-30

It is a special year for the Redcliffe Show Society, which will celebrate its 70th birthday. Jetpack Man will make his first appearance at the show, performing stunts and tricks over a pool, on the Friday and Saturday night. The popular fireworks display, which will be bigger than previous years, will incorporate a special tribute to the show’s 70th anniversary. There will be live music each day, showcasing the talents of schoolchildren, bands and choirs. Children will be given a passport and challenged to collect a series of stamps from pavilions during their visit. Completed passports will then go in the running for one of 30 prizes. Tickets are $12 adults, $6 pensioners and children. The showgrounds are at Scarborough Rd, Redcliffe.

Dayboro Show, July 6-7

This year’s show will feature new attractions, including sheep dog trials and demonstrations, miniature goat show and a gem mining stall. Crowd favourite, the fireworks are held on Saturday night, and Queensland Championship Woodchopping, on Sunday at 3pm. The Kidz Zone is packed with mostly free entertainment, but donations will be collected for the Burrumbottock Hay Runners. Entry to the show is $12 adults, $10 high school students and pensioners and $5 for primary school children. The showground is at 3512 Mt Mee Rd, Dayboro.

Samford Show, July 13-14

Organisers of this year’s Samford Show say it is lining up to be one of the best yet. The show, like all shows, is put together by a group of dedicated volunteers and backed by sponsorship from the community, businesses and council. It features cattle judging, equestrian events, woodchop, mini trotters, fireworks, sideshow attractions and a dog jump competition with a new category for little dogs. Once again, cash prizes will be offered to winners in the adult art and craft section, with $300 up for grabs for the Champion Craft and Champion Art winners. The showground is at Showgrounds Drive, Highvale. Tickets are $20 adults, $10 concessions, $8 students, $5 children under 14, free for children under 5.

Pine Rivers Show, August 2-4

This is the final show on the Moreton Bay circuit and is just one week out from the Ekka in Brisbane. Celebrity bush cook Ranger Nick will visit the Pine Rivers Show for the first time this year. Don’t miss his camp oven cooking demonstrations. There will also be a free climbing wall, laser zone pit, big top circus and squash and rugby league for the children, along with plenty of live entertainment. The photography and arts and craft sections always attract high-quality entries. Tickets are $15 adults, $10 concession and high school students. Entry is free for primary school children. The showground is at 757 Gympie Rd, Lawnton.
