MORETON Bay’s $20 million BIG4 Sandstone Point Holiday Resort officially opens on November 1, and already the facility has eclipsed all expectations.
“When we first announced we were taking bookings, there were non-stop calls and emails. It was crazy,” marketing manager Toni Forrest says.
“Concert dates at Sandstone Point Hotel were the first to fill up and understandably so, with the resort being so close to the entertainment hub it’s no wonder people want to stay onsite.
“If people are this excited to stay with us before they’ve even seen just how much we have to offer, I can’t wait to showcase the finished product.”
Offering modern coast-inspired accommodation options unique to the area, the resort consists of 47 villas and safari tents, each designed to suit different stays – from family holidays to romantic getaways.
Options on the shores of Pumicestone Passage include luxury villas, two and three-bedroom villas and studios.
But the safari tents should also not be underestimated – with family and luxury options available. The family tents sleep five under a canvas roof and there’s full airconditioning, a kitchen, queen bed, double bunk, bathroom, living area with smart TV, private alfresco dining area and a barbecue. The luxury version, designed for couples, also offers a bath, large shower and double sinks.
Director Rob Comiskey said the decision to build the resort was clear-cut, bringing with it plenty of local employment opportunities.
“Ever since we bought the land, we knew we had to do something to get more tourists to the area,” he said.
“The Sandstone Point Hotel has been a smashing success, with locals having a new place to dine and newcomers visiting for the food, the views and of course the entertainment. So demand for onsite accommodation only increased once big acts started performing at the hotel and we knew it was time to action our plan to expand.
“We are certain we will see a dramatic increase in visitation, especially in peak times in December, and we hope to see guests head over to Bribie Island to experience local attractions and businesses outside the resort.
“We will be employing around 50 new staff over the coming months and we hope to boost the local economy with new jobs on offer and visitors to the region.”
Mr Comiskey says that a Facebook audience of just under 12,000 in just a few months was evidence there was plenty of interest in the resort.
“BIG4 Sandstone Point Holiday Resort will draw crowds with its world-class facilities including a water park, jumping pillow, fire pit, bar, games room and tennis court,” he says.
“Our team are currently working on interactive activities for kids and the holiday season so we’ve got plenty more to announce.”
