A 10-year-old boy is in a stable condition at the Queensland Children’s Hospital after being hit by a prime mover at Burpengary on Friday afternoon.

Officer-in-charge Forensic Crash Unit at Burpengary Greg Price said after initial investigations it was believed the child rode out of his property on a push bike and onto the road, in front of the Kenworth prime mover.

The boy’s mother said that her son had received “serious injuries”.

“Thank you, our son is stable with some serious injuries, it was the most horrible accident,” she wrote on Facebook.

“Our thoughts are with the truck driver also, thank you for your well wishes”.

Sergeant Price said investigations were continuing.

Emergency services initially reported it was a girl who had been hit by a truck at Laurel Drive, about 2.40pm on Friday – it was later corrected to be a boy.
