Still unsure who to give your precious first vote for at this election?

While many factors will come into people’s choices this time, the main parties have spent up big in key electorates in the hope of hanging on — or triggering an upset.

Here are some* of the local goodies the parties have promised — or recently delivered — in nine key Brisbane and Moreton Bay electorates.

BOWMAN

LNP

1. $3.5 million commitment for a Head to Health facility at Redland Bay.

2. $175,000 for new CCTV cameras at Cleveland Point to deter hoons.

3. Redlands Tigers Cricket Club, $750,000 to light Peter Burge Oval.

4. $1.84 million for the Redland Community Centre to support at-risk youth.

6. $1.5 million to upgrade the clubhouse and build female change rooms at the Alexandra Hills JAFC.

7. $40,000 for new shade structures for the North Stradbroke Island Rugby League & Allsports Club at Ron Stark Oval, Dunwich.

8. Will push for funding for new home for U3A Redlands District.

Greens

4. $11.8 million to fast-track upgrading of a section of Old Gympie Rd in Dakabin, between Nellies Ln and Alma Rd, from two to four lanes. Includes on-road cycle lanes, ramps, improved pathways, landscaping and signalised pedestrian crossings. The roundabout at Whitehorse and Old Gympie roads will be replaced with traffic lights.

5. $5 million to construct 650m of Pumicestone Rd, including Jensen Rd intersection.

7. Spiders Boxing Club early intervention program.

8. $1 million for Bribie Tigers clubhouse redevelopment including accessible football club room, kitchen and kiosk, amenities block, storage areas, two change rooms, player amenities and an external viewing deck.

9. $600,000 for Woodford Warriors Netball Club facilities upgrade for two of the four courts.

The Greens said many of its commitments were bigger picture, nationwide policies including cracking down on pork barrelling by requiring independent assessment of applications for infrastructure grants, with clear criteria and decision making transparently determined and recorded, and requiring major projects over $100 million to have an independent evaluation and community consultation.

The Greens will also create a $3 billion fund to deliver local sports facilities, playgrounds and parks, and have outlined increased education and hospital funding plans.
