Moreton District police have warned tradies to secure their tools and equipment after reports of stealing offences in the region identified a spike in the theft of tools from trade vehicles.
‘Even though we have seen a decrease in reported stealing offences from motor vehicles, in this past week, we have seen thieves target tools and electrical items from the rear of utility vehicles and trailers,” police said.

“With most residents being at home, vehicles and trailers have been targeted.”
Police have urged residents to remove valuables from vehicles and to secure trailers and utilities.
Vehicles at Donald Street, Woody Point and Silcock Street, Clontarf have been targeted in the past seven days.
Tyres and rims have also been stolen from a vehicle in a car yard on Lear Jet Drive, Caboolture and a trailer at Beachmere.
“If you have CCTV cameras, please ensure that they cover the area where your vehicle or trailer is parked and that they are either infra red or have sufficient lighting to capture good footage,” police said.
“We encourage you to test your cameras at night to ensure the lighting is focused on the right area.”
