With just 12 days left to nominate, three candidates have put their hands up to contest Division 9 at the March 28 council election.

Deputy mayor Mike Charlton, now acting mayor after Cr Sutherland was suspended over misconduct charges, Cath Tonks and former One Nation state candidate Greg Fahey have said they will contest the seat.

Pine Rivers Press asked all three candidates about their policies for the 2020-2024 term. Just Ms Tonks responded to the questions.

“I’m running to give our community a fresh start with a new local voice on council,” she said.

“Many locals have told me they feel unheard by council and this needs to change. I will be more consultative and will also focus on bringing our community together through events and upgraded facilities.

Ms Tonks, who works in Federal Minister for Dickson Peter Dutton’s office, said she would take leave from her job during the campaign.
