THE State Government will spend $11 million on acute beds and refurbishing a day procedure unit at this hospital, but there is still no action on its overflowing car park.

State Labor MP for Redcliffe Yvette D’Ath said the Redcliffe Hospital parking project was still in the planning stages.

“We are currently working with the health service on future car parking solutions and will make announcements as they come to hand,” she said.

Mrs D’Ath said $4.6 million would go towards refurbishing the day procedure unit and $7 million to add more acute beds.

The project included building two replacement day procedure rooms and refurbishing the sterilising and pathology areas.

Mrs D’Ath said the new ward and 26 beds were expected to be open by winter next year.

This project included the relocation of the outpatient Kidney Health Care Service and Cancer Care Service from the hospital to the Moreton Bay Integrated Care Centre.

“The next phase of the project will be the announcement of tenders in the third quarter for both the new ward and other work planned,” Mrs D’Ath said.
