Bribie residents will rally tomorrow on the foreshore as they ramp up the fight they say is to save the Island from becoming “another Gold Coast”.
Fair Go For Bribie spokeswoman Faye Falvey said the group “had numerous concerns about development application approvals and want the public to know what is going on”.
She said “ratepayers trust that the Planning Scheme is in place to protect them and their community”.
“We are not against high rise,” she said.
“We are against the rules being broken to allow developers to do what they want.”
“We do not want Bribie to become another Gold Coast. It is an Island which is supposed to be protected as is the Pumicestone Passage.
Ms Falvey said residents had made hundreds of submissions to Moreton Bay Regional Council on a recent development application over planning concerns.
“We don’t want developments exceeding performance outcomes,” she said.
“Or what is publicly advertised and consequently approved being completely different.”
Residents will meet at Welsby Parade and Ferguson Ave, Bongaree tomorrow (March 22) at 3pm.
She said a letter of complaint had been sent to the Moreton Bay Regional Council on February 4, 2020.
Residents can contact the group at fairgoforbribie@gmail.com to voice their concerns.
