Rescue helicopter called to man trapped in car, D’Aguilar Highway, Winya

A man has suffered serious leg injuries and been flown to hospital after a serious crash that closed the D’Aguilar Highway near Kilcoy.

Just before 6am, emergency services were called to a two-vehicle crash on D’Aguilar Highway, Winya, with one patient, reportedly a male, trapped in a vehicle.

The highway was cut at Winya after the two-vehicle crash occurred just before 6am.

The man was trapped in his vehicle and had to be freed by fire crews before he was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

Another person was assessed by paramedics but did not require transport to hospital.

Diversions are in place; however, motorists are urged to avoid the area, or expect delays.
