Redcliffe Magistrate hands out close to $10,000 in fines for traffic offences in a week

A staggering $10,000 worth of fines were handed to 15 traffic offenders in Redlcliffe court this week, including several people who crashed their cars while drink driving. SEE THE FULL LIST

Redcliffe Magistrates Court was back up and running as usual for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out and there was a long list of people charged with traffic offences.

Magistrate Bucknall handed out a total of $9350 worth of fines to 15 offenders this week.

Here is the full list of everyone who appeared in court this week, charged for drink driving, drug driving, disqualified driving and unlicensed driving

Reuben Nathanael Isaac Wilson pleaded guilty to driving while on a disqualified license in Redcliffe Magistrates Court on June 17. The court heard Wilson’s licence was suspended by Caboolture Magistrates Court on February 26 due to a drink driving charge. Wilson had recorded a breath alcohol concentration of 0.134 per cent. Police found Wilson behind the wheel again on February 27. Magistrate Bucknall said it was “outrageous behaviour”. Wilson was fined $1200 and disqualified from driving for two years.

Caleb William Kotyman has been fined $650 and disqualified from driving for four months after pleading guilty to drink driving on Tuesday. He recorded a breath alcohol reading of 0.108 per cent.

Ropata Matekino Green, on Tuesday, pleaded guilty to driving with cannabis in his system and driving while on a suspended license on March 6. He was fined $600 and disqualified from driving for five months.

Anthony Tinkler was disqualified from driving for two months and fined $500 after pleading guilty to drug driving in Redcliffe Magistrates Court on June 16.

Nixon Sila Tunafai pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified from holding a license at Morris Rd, Rothwell on January 3, 2020. He was fined $400 and disqualified for six months by Magistrate Bucknall on Tuesday.

Karen Elizabeth Anderson was fined $450 and disqualified from driving for one month after pleading guilty to driving without a license. She was charged March 13 at Trilby St, Margate and appeared in court on Tuesday.

Gregory Aaron Bailey was disqualified for driving for two years and fined $1000 after driving while on a disqualified license. His license has been suspended the same day, March 24. He was caught by police while driving home from court. He pleaded guilty in Redcliffe Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Joshua Dean Adams was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for three months after pleading guilty to drink driving. Adams recorded a breath alcohol reading of 0.085 per cent after crashing his car into the guard rail on the Houghton Hwy on February 6. The Magistrate granted his request for a work license on Tuesday.

Ryan Wayne Burbidge was fined $1000 and disqualified from driving for six months for failing to supply a sample of blood for analysis. The court, on Monday, heard Burbidge had been having a few drinks in his garage on May 30, before deciding to get in his car and clear his head. Burbidge lost control of the car and crashed into a tree at Coriander St Griffin. He sustained injuries and the car was written off. He refused to supply a sample for alcohol testing.

Callum Sean McEwen was disqualified from driving for five months and fined $850 for drunk driving and failing to stop at a red light. McEwen, on Monday, pleaded guilty to turning on a red arrow while driving along Deception Bay Rd (check) on June 3 and being over the middle alcohol limit. He recorded a breath alcohol concentration of 0.124 per cent

William Ronald Clarke was fined $300 for driving an unregistered and uninsured car on March 6.

Ryan Thomas Bakker pleaded guilty to driving while on a disqualified license. The court, on Tuesday, heard Bakker had lost his license due to the accumulation of demerit points and was disqualified until March 24. On March 9 Bakker went for a drive to get medical supplies for his son and was pulled over by police.

He was fined $450 and disqualified from driving for a further six months.

Usoalii Jr Ata was fined $450 and disqualified from driving for one month for driving with an expired license after pleading guilty in Redcliffe Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Julie-Anne Zurvas was fined $300 for driving an unregistered and uninsured car at Deception Bay on March 2. She pleaded guilty on Tuesday in Redcliffe Magistrates Court.

Phillip Shane Mills was fined $700 and disqualified from driving for four months after recording a breath alcohol reading of 0.060 per cent on December 24, 2019. The Magistrate, on Tuesday, granted his request for a work license.
