The Red Schwars, made up of Redcliffe Leagues Hockey Club legends, secured back-to-back Brett Forte Memorial Shield wins at the weekend.

The former Redcliffe Leagues player and Caboolture officer was killed while on duty in the Lockyer Valley in May 2017.

Red Schwars beat the Queensland Police side 5-3 in the charity game at Mary Nairn Field, in front of a crowd of about 150 people.

Redcliffe coach Dion Harle said there were several “high quality players” on the field and there was a lot of skill on show.

“The Red Schwars were down 2-0 early in the game, but fought back to win 5-3,” Harle said.

Mathew Hagenbach scored three goals for the home side, and Peter Somers and David Halliday also found the back of the net.

Mitchell Smith scored twice, and Shane Everist once, for Queensland Police.

Last year’s inaugural match raised $4000 for Forte’s wife and children.

Donations are still being counted.
