THE Redcliffe community is in shock following the sudden death of prominent architect and artist Alex Enborisoff.
Mr Enborisoff, 69, died from a suspected heart attack this morning.
He leaves behind wife Helen, four children and 10 grandchildren.
Mr Enborisoff helped shape the Redcliffe Peninsula landscape through his work as an architect, but was equally prominent in the local arts scene.
He was president of the Seaside Arts Hub, a member of the Redcliffe Arts Society, an award-winning painter and member of the Save the Gayundah committee.
Mr Enborisoff also tried his hand at acting in two locally-produced historical mockumentaries.
Friend Richard Lancaster described him as a “committed and community-minded fellow”.
“Everyone I’ve spoken to is absolutely shocked because he’s always been so full of life,” Mr Lancaster said.
Alex Enborisoff had more than 40 years experience in architecture, town planning and project management.
He studied at Queensland Institute of Technology (now QUT) and graduated in 1974.
Mr Enborisoff was most recently involved in the design of the proposed upgrade to Cominos Arcade at Redcliffe.
Moreton Bay Regional Councillor James Houghton (Div 5) said: “he was probably the most prolific architect on the Peninsula in the past few years”.
Cr Houghton said he was a good Christian man who was well known and liked in art circles.
He was an active supporter of the Scripture Union Chaplaincy program and local church community.
