MORE than 150 people will carry bricks honouring World War I servicemen for 100km through rugged bush to Woodford on March 21 and 22.
The World War I Queenslander Challenge starts at Enoggera Reservoir, heads into the D’Aguilar Range and along fire trails to Mt Mee and Neurum.
Each brick will be inscribed with the name of one of the 7000 Queenslanders who died in World War I.
They will eventually form a memorial wall to be unveiled in a park at The Gap in 2018.
Challenge Brisbane north committee member Gary Lancaster said it would be a tough weekend.
“Those hills out the back there are never ending,” Mr Lancaster said.
The challenge is open to individuals who will take on the whole length and teams of between two and 10 who will walk in relay.
The final 400m leg will pass through Woodford and end at the RSL Sub-branch at about 4-4.30pm on March 22.
Similar events will be held in May, August and October.
