Police launch blitz on youth crime in Caboolture CBD

POLICE are “blitzing” one community in particular with the focus on youth crime. Police say the number of assaults, vandalism and wilful damage offences is too high and they want to stop it.

ASSAULTS, vandalism and wilful damage offences will be the focus of a police blitz to curb youth crime in one community.

Moreton North Patrol Inspector Paul Ready said there was a high rate of youth crime in the Caboolture area, north of Brisbane, and assault, vandalism and wilful damage would be the main focus of the blitz.

“We want to make the Caboolture CBD a family friendly space, where people can come and feel safe,” Insp Ready said.

The police have formed an action group along with CBD traders, railway patrol officers and Moreton Bay Regional Council representatives.

Inspector Ready said everyone would have to work together to send the message crime would not be tolerated.

It is not the first time Caboolture Police have conducted a blitz on youth crime.

Insp Ready said they did a similar operation, just for a weekend in early May.

“There was a number of arrests made for offences we are focusing on,” he said.
