LAST minute touches are being put on the new Oporto restaurant at North Lakes before its opening today.
Staff at the restaurant, which is situated in the “fast casual” dining precinct at Westfield, were frantically getting ready about midday to serve their first customers.
It is expected to open between 1-2pm this afternoon.
A spokeswoman said it was the first Oporto store to open in a fast casual precinct as they are usually located in food courts, which reflected its move to a premium and food experience, she said.
The restaurant will offer a free Double Bondi Burger to customers between 11am-6pm on Saturday to welcome the community.
The company is also opening a restaurant at Rothwell on December 17 in a new complex that will also feature US burger franchise Carl’s Jr.
The company behind Carl’s Jr was also investigating other locations in Moreton Bay, including North Lakes.
Oporto, which is headquartered in New South Wales, is joining US food Taco Bell in expanding to the ever-growing North Lakes suburb.
The signage for the Taco Bell restaurant, located at the corner of Flinders Drv and Diamond Jubilee Way, went up this week.
The company announced recently it would be open before Christmas.
