Koby Shane Radford is lucky to have survived his 18th birthday party after getting drunk and crashing his car just 100m from his Newport home, north of Brisbane.
The 18-year-old pleaded guilty to drink driving, driving without due care and attention, obstruct police and public nuisance in Redcliffe Magistrates Court today.
Police were called to a single vehicle crash at the intersection of Griffith and Boardman Rd at Newport at about 3am on July 26.
When police arrived they found a silver Ford falcon with extensive damage on the road and the registration plates missing.
The VIN showed the vehicle’s owner lived at Newport.

Police noticed a large group of people standing on a front lawn of a home not far from the crashed car.
Radford was among the group and told police he had been driving the car.
The court heard Radford told police: “I was doing 100km around the corner and it skidded out because the back tyres are flat”.
Police confirmed the back tyres of the crashed car were bald.
Radford was taken to Redcliffe Police station where he returned a breath alcohol reading of 0.099 per cent.
At about 5am Radford was released from custody.
The court heard while Radford was in the foyer area of the police station waiting for his property to be returned Radford lost his patience and started to hit the glass divider and the station door.
Despite police warnings he did not calm down.
Police attempted to arrest Radford but he resisted. He was eventually taken to the watch house, charged and bailed.
Radford’s lawyer told the court his client had exaggerated the speed he was travelling at on the night – but accepted he was going above the speed limit.
He explained Radford had been celebrating his 18th birthday with his mates, had had a bit to drink and made a decision to go for a drive.
Magistrate Mark Bucknall said Radford was almost double the limit.
Radford was fined $1200 and disqualified from driving for five months in relation to the drink driving offence.
No convictions were recorded for the public nuisance and obstruct police offences.
