What started as little extra love for her own dog has turned into a fully fledged business for a Narangba teenager.
While she’s only in Year 9, Narangba Valley State High School student Rebekah Terpkou has already launched her own online business selling clean dog treats.
The 14-year-old bakes the treats herself, in between school and study, and sells them via her own online shop.
She said owners of dogs with digestive issues had been particularly interested in the variety of pet snacks which were all wheat, soy, dairy, egg, preservative and corn-free.
Instead, she uses combinations of brown rice, flaxseed oil, oats, honey and fresh fruits and vegetables in her recipes.
“I just researched what is healthy for dogs,” she said.
“I started making them for my dog.
Before she knew it she had a regular clientele.
“It’s grown pretty well,” she said.
Rebekah fits in baking, packaging and delivery time after school, with some help from her grandmother — who even helped her launch her own website.
