Narangba duo arrested for allegedly stealing car from Xanadu Court, Tallai

A stop off at a Moreton Bay fast food outlet has ended up in a chase on foot and the arrest of two people on more than 44 charges after police tracked the pair for days. SEE THE DRAMATIC VIDEO

A man and woman will both face court on a huge list of charges after police tracked the pair from the Gold Coast to the City of Moreton Bay, nabbing them in a daring on-foot chase.

Two people have been charged with more than 44 offences following Operation Whiskey Legion investigations into an alleged stolen vehicle at Narangba last week.

It would be alleged that about 8pm on Monday, May 20, a 31-year-old Southport woman and 34-year-old man stole a grey Landrover Discovery from a home in Xanadu Court, Tallai.

About 10pm on Friday, May 24, police saw the same car parked in a fastfood restaurant car park on Gympie Rd in Strathpine.

The Polair helicopter tracked the car through Lawnton and Petrie before it headed north up Narangba Rd.

A tyre deflation device was then deployed in Kurwongbah, stopping the car.

The pair allegedly dumped it on Wentworth St in Narangba before fleeing on foot.

They were arrested on nearby Paterson St soon after.

The male driver, a 38-year-old Maryborough man, has been charged with 16 offences.

They included dangerous operation of a vehicle, evasion, stealing, enter dwelling with intent at night, enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, trespass, wilful damage, possess dangerous drugs, driving motor vehicle without a drivers licence and dangerous operation of a vehicle adversely affected by an intoxicating substance.

Investigations led police to charge the man with a further 28 offences allegedly committed between November 2023 and May 2024.

They included stealing, unlawful use of a multivehicle, possessing dangerous drugs, receiving tainted property, enter premises and commit indictable offence, possess utensils or pipes etc for use and fail to take reasonable car and precautions in respect of syringe or needle.

He was due to have appeared in Pine Rivers Magistrate Court this morning, May 27.

The passenger, a 31-year-old Southport woman, has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and was due to appear next at Pine Rivers Magistrate Court on June 11.
