WHILE most Year 12 graduates are nervously waiting for their OP results to be released Indiah Riley is focusing on her next big game with the Brisbane Roar W-League side.
The 16-year-old Murrumba Downs girl debuted for the W-League side earlier this year.
“Making my debut in Sydney was pretty special, I’ll always remember that,” Indiah said.
The budding Young Matildas star plays striker or winger for the Roar side.
But football was not always her sport of choice.
She first started playing rugby union before joining the The Lakes Football Cub under-12s side in 2013.
From there she moved to Moreton Bay United and then the Roar youth side.
Indiah said there was a “huge difference” between the youth side and the W-League.
“Everyone is so experienced and I am really gaining a lot from the all the older players,” she said.
“I really hope to stay with Roar, it is such a good environment.”
The Roar W-League side will play Melbourne Victory at Lions on Sunday then Western Sydney on Thursday night at Dolphin Stadium at Redcliffe.
Which is just a short drive from Indiah’s home at Murrumba Downs.
“It will be pretty exciting,” she said.
“All my family and friends are going to come along and watch. It will be nice to have a home game, we have had a few away games the last few weeks.”
Indiah was forced to drop her OP subjects in Year 11 after missing 70 days of school for football.
Indiah said she had already been selected to attend the University of Sunshine Coast through their sports program to study a bridging course.
Sunday’s game against Melbourne Victory kicks off at Lions FC Stadium at 4pm.
The match against Western Sydney starts at 7.30pm on Thursday at Dolphin Stadium.
Brisbane Roar’s W-League side is currently 7th on the ladder with two wins, two losses and a draw from their five games so far.
