Multiple people lost their licenses for extended periods last week as drivers pleaded guilty to driving while on Ice, evading police and driving while more than three times the legal alcohol limit.
The defendants, all appearing at Caboolture Magistrates Court on Thursday, were disqualified from driving.
The court heard Clayton Colles, 43, had a four page traffic history and crashed his vehicle on May 18; tests would confirm he had a blood-alcohol reading of 0.162 per cent.
The Bribie Island resident was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for six months.
Rebecca Preston, 35, of Caboolture lost her licence for seven months and was fined $500.
On February 27 the defendant was pulled over in a random intercept at Morayfield when tests would confirm she showed positive for Ice; the court heard she had been unlicensed at the time after she exceeded the speed limit by 40km/h on a previous occasion.
Troy Thompson of Crestmead was told by the court that he could face a mandatory sentence of 50 days in prison or a $6,600 fine after he pleaded guilty to evading police.
However, magistrate Jim Blanch contended “the law had not been resolved”.
The court heard Thompson had driven away at speed from a police vehicle at an attempted stop by officers at an intersection in Burrum on June 12.
The defendant was later located at his residence and charged.
Thompson was sentenced to 12 months’ probation and disqualified from driving for two years with a conviction recorded.
And the court heard Meldale woman Zelda Gray, 45, was “very sorry and embarrassed” after pleading guilty to possession of a dangerous drug and driving while demerit point suspended.
The court was told Gray, who had a four-page traffic history, was found with 0.58 grams of Ice during a police intercept at Sandstone Point on June 4.
The defendant told the court the drugs had not belonged to her but conceded to them being in her possession at the time.
She was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for six months with no conviction recorded.
