A Morayfield mother-of-three with an eight-page criminal history landed back before the court, after being found in possession of a large amount of cannabis and with a stolen police name tag.
Forty-year-old Kristin Maree Bragg faced Caboolture Magistrate Court on October 21, charged with possessing dangerous drugs, receiving tainted property and possessing property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence.
The court heard on September 19, 2022, police executed a search warrant at Bragg’s Morayfield home, where they located 305.6g of cannabis in a chest of drawers in her bedroom, three electronic scales and a stolen Queensland Police name tag.
Police prosecutor Tia Herd said Bragg admitted to police she owned the cannabis and one of the three electronic scales, indicating she didn’t know who the other two belonged to.
The court heard Bragg told police that she had seen the name tag in the drawers and didn’t know how it got there or who it belonged to, adding it was there ‘for a while’.
The court heard police had to handcuff an adult male in the walk-in wardrobe who refused to exit and that police also found an 18-year-old in the house.
Bragg’s defence lawyer Kristie Horne told the court Bragg’s reasoning for possessing the cannabis was to help deal with the pain of a dislocated shoulder that was never fixed.
Ms Horne told the court as a result, Bragg was diagnosed with erb’s palsy and is on a waitlist for medicinal cannabis.
The court heard Bragg has three children aged six, seven and 18, and Bragg has previously worked in cafes and completed a certificate III in AIN last year.
Bragg was found guilty and Magistrate James Blanch sentenced Bragg to a 30-month probation order and recorded convictions.
“She has 300g of marijuana in the home with children,” Mr Blanch said.
“She’s breached probation five times.
