Moreton schools raise their fees for 2021

Fees have risen at the majority of Moreton’s most exclusive schools this year. See how your child’s fees compare.

The majority of Moreton’s private schools upped their fees this year but it was not out of line with other schools across Australia.

Nationally there was a substantial drop in the rate of fee increase, with the average falling from 2.83 per cent last year to 1.05 per cent in 2021.

The rate of change around Moreton schools rose between 1-3 per cent.

Grace Lutheran College at Rothwell remains the most expensive school in the region – charging $7540 for Year 7 students and $9020 for Year 12, which is the same fees the school charged in 2020.

The school does achieve well when it comes to academics with 11 per cent of the 2020 cohort receiving an ATAR score of 95 or above. A total of 29 per cent achieved an ATAR higher than 90 and 61 per cent scored above 80.

The Lakes College at North Lakes increased fees slightly from $7489 to $7601 for Year 1 tuition and $8677 to $8807 for Year 12 students.

Of the region’s private schools St Benedict’s College at Mango Hill has the cheapest fees – charging $2300 for Year 7-12 students.

Edstart Chief Executive Jack Stevens said the last four years have seen a steady decline in school fee inflation, but the pandemic has accelerated the trend.

“Forty per cent of schools did not increase their fees in 2021, a huge jump from 7 per cent of schools in 2020,” he said.

“A larger number of schools also decreased their fees this year to provide fee relief to

families.”
