The man accused of the shooting murder of a mother of two in Morayfield last month is also facing drug trafficking charges, it can exclusively be revealed.
Ryan Johnson, 18, of Morayfield, appeared via video link in Caboolture Magistrates court on February 7, charged over the murder of Keira-Jade Marshall at a Grant Rd unit in Morayfield on January 28.
He also faced charges of authority required to possess explosives, possess utensils or pipes, possessing dangerous drugs (buprenorphine), unlawful possession of motor vehicle, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property, unlawful possession of weapons category A, B or M (knuckledusters) and unlawful possession of weapons category D/H/R weapon-firearm used to commit indictable offence, all alleged to be on or about January 28, 2024, at Grant Rd.
Court documents have revealed Johnson also faces five drug trafficking charges, alleged to have occurred between December 19, 2023 and January 28, 2024 — all at the same address as Ms Marshall’s death.
Court documents allege Johnson was trafficking cannabis, meth and cocaine and his listed occupation was a concreter.
He had previously appeared in court over the trafficking charges and on Wednesday returned to court charged with the new charges including murder.
Magistrate James Blanch adjourned the matters to March 27 for further mention, with those charges to join the trafficking charges, and so a brief of evidence could be disclosed.
Police will allege the Morayfield man shot and killed 29-year-old Deception Bay woman Keira Marshall at a unit complex on Grant Road in Morayfield on January 28.
They will also allege that the pair were known to each other.
Emergency services had been called after there were reports Ms Marshall had been shot at the property that morning. They tried to assist her but she died at the scene.
Detective Inspector from the Moreton Crime Group David Harbison on January 29 said Ms Marshall was shot in the upper body, and early information suggested there was only one gunshot discharged.
“It was obviously a very fluid scene, very confronting for police and QAS to see anyone with a gunshot wound despite their best attempts at CPR and first aid,” he said.
“Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries. So yeah, an absolute tragedy, it’s very hard on first responders both on the police and ambulance.”
Friends took to social media soon after her death to mourn Ms Marshall.
“This is beyond f-cked up!!!! I only spoke to you yesterday!!! Keira Marshall I f-cking love you! I will always be here for your kids and your family!!! I’m so sorry I didn’t come and see you yesterday like you wanted me to! I’m so sorry,” a friend wrote on social media.
While another friend wrote that her heart was “shattered”.
“I will always be there for ur (sic) babies if they ever need … I will always remember the loving mother and friend u (sic) were … i will forever keep ur (sic) memory alive.”
The 18-year-old Morayfield man has been charged with one count each of murder, unlawful possession of firearm used to commit indictable offence, possession of dangerous drugs, unlawful possession of motor vehicle, possession of category M weapon (knuckle dusters), possession of explosives (ammunition), and possession of suspected stolen property.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Caboolture Magistrates Court tomorrow, February 7.
