Moodlu Men’s Shed set to open with information night at Caboolture Lakes Bowls Club

A NEW men’s shed is about to open in the Caboolture region with the first meeting next week.

The men of Moodlu will soon have a place to meet, talk and work on projects.

Moodlu and District Men’s Shed will hold an information night on January 31, from 7-9pm, at the Caboolture Lakes Bowls Club.

Rodney Hansen, who is starting the shed, said it was looking for expressions of interest.

“Each shed has its own personality and character. Some do woodwork, others metalwork, some might want to work on cars. It’s up to the people to make it what they want, and we’d like to hear people’s ideas and suggestions,” Mr Hansen said.

“Men’s sheds not only benefit the members, but also the community. They might make toys for charities or repair things for other groups.

“It’s also good for mental health. Men often don’t feel comfortable talking about their feelings, but this is a place they can find support.”

Mr Hansen said the first project would be building a fence for the site.

“Then we will move on to getting the shed up to scratch. We’ve also booked in sausage sizzles throughout the year to start fundraising,” he said.

Anyone not able to attend the information night can phone 0481 480 486, or go to the Facebook page.
