A former Senate candidate and NRL bid director will join a former teacher as the LNP’s newest candidates in the October State Election.

Former Director of employment and training, Robert Wilson, has been selected to represent the LNP in Nudgee and local businessman and community volunteer Chris Mangan will be the LNP’s candidate for Sandgate.

The current MP for Nudgee is Leanne Linard and for Sandgate, MP Stirling Hinchliffe.

Mr Wilson has more than 25 years of experience across employment, education, and training, beginning his career as an Education Queensland teacher before working across construction, transport and agriculture industries in senior roles.

“Our community is facing major housing affordability challenges, escalating rents, youth crime, and record-high ambulance ramping,” Mr Wilson said.

“Nudgee is paying a high price for Labor’s continued failures to plan for our future.”

Chris Mangan has local roots in Sandgate and surrounding suburbs, where he has worked and served with many local community organisations.

He was also the LNP’s Senate candidate in the 2015 and the director of the Brisbane Jets’ 2023 NRL bid.

Mr Mangan has more than 20 years of experience in planning and logistics in the defence industry.

“I’m unashamedly passionate about my community and the people who live across the Sandgate electorate,” Mr Mangan said.

“We live in a very special part of Queensland, and Labor has failed to deliver the services we need to protect the lifestyle we enjoy.”

LNP leader David Crisafulli welcomed both Robert and Chris who had the right priorities for their communities.

“Nudgee and Sandgate have been taken for granted by a tired third term Labor Government that has failed on the big four crises facing these communities,” Mr Crisafulli said.

“The LNP has been listening to the concerns of these communities around housing affordability, health, rising cost of living and escalating crime, and has put forward a plan to tackle the big crises.

“I am proud to welcome Robert and Chris to our united LNP team, who will hit the ground running as they speak to their communities about the Right Plan for Queensland’s Future.”

The 2024 Queensland State Election is scheduled to be held on October 26, 2024.
