FEDERAL Labor has promised to build a $40 million SkillsTech TAFE campus north of Brisbane if it wins the federal election.

The campus would be built at North Lakes on land next to Bunnings, at the corner of Boundary Rd and Diamond Jubilee Way, with access from Cook Court.

The site is already owned by the State Government.

It would accommodate up to 3300 students and create 65 teaching and support jobs.

“The facility will cater for the growing population areas north of Brisbane including Pine Rivers, Caboolture, North Lakes and Caloundra,” a Labor spokeswoman said.

“It will provide industry-standard skills for the electrotechnology, construction, engineering and automotive industries for both large and small businesses.”

Member for Murrumba Steven Miles said the region’s demand for TAFE training was high and would continue to grow in future years.
