JAKE Ashley Law-Cobbo, the man charged with the grievous bodily harm of 17-year-old Joshua Waite, has been denied bail this morning.

Cries of “stay strong Jake” and “we love you Cobbo” were yelled by family members of Jake Ashley Law-Cobbo after his bail application was denied.

Law-Cobbo, 18, from Kippa-Ring, is charged with the grevious bodily harm of Joshua Waite, 17, who remains in an induced coma at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

Redcliffe Police prosecutor Sergeant David Pollock showed the Magistrate CCTV footage of the incident, which occurred outside Redcliffe McDonald’s on Friday night.

Sgt Pollock told the court the footage showed the defender kicking Joshua in the head, before Joshua fell to the ground unconscious and accused fled the scene.

While waiting for the Magistrate to make his decision, Law-Cobbo could be seen wiping tears from his eyes.

The Magistrate said despite Law-Cobbo’s limited criminal history, the nature of the offence and the strong evidence left him no choice but to deny the bail application.

The matter was adjourned until July 5. Law-Cobbo will appear via video link.
