Skateboarding will debut as an Olympic sport next year and budding Scarborough skateboarder Jack Lewis could not be more excited.
Jack, 12, has set his sights on competing in the skateboarding event at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
He started riding a scooter when he was three and skateboarding at 5-years-old.

“My dad taught me initially and then I went to RampAttak indoor skate park for lessons with coach Pat Gemzik,” Jack said.
Jack has been nominated for a Local Sports Stars individual award.
“I competed each week in the ASCI shredders league in 2015 and have been competing at a National Level since 2017.”
This year Jack competed at the Australian Skateboarding League national championships in Melbourne and finished second in the under-12s division.
He is ranked sixth in the world for under-12s street skating.
“I felt a lot of pressure as it was the first time competing with other great skateboarders and in front of 2000 people,” Jack said.
He spends almost four hours at RampAttak indoor skate park each Monday.
“I skate as much as I can, whether it is on my rail at home or at the skate parks like Redcliffe or Bracken Ridge in the afternoons and weekends,” Jack said.
The Redcliffe State High School Year 7 student said his favourite thing about the sport was making so many new friends.
“A lot of the older skaters help the younger skaters,” Jack said.
His ultimate goal is to be a professional skater and compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
