A much-needed new ambulance station is coming to Moreton Bay after confirmation it will be operational by the end of 2024.
Plans are now complete and tenders have been called for a $6.2 million ambulance station in Morayfield that will provide better access to paramedic care for the fast-growing region.
It will be built on the corner of Morayfield Rd and Lindsay Rd and support coverage in the Metro North Local Ambulance Service Network (LASN).
It was also expected to improve response times across the region.
State Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan said local paramedics would have a world-class facility from which to work.
“There is strong population growth in the greater Caboolture area and the Palaszczuk Government is fully aware of the need to build the infrastructure to stay ahead of this growth,” Mr Ryan said.
“Officers at surrounding stations in Caboolture, Narangba and Ningi do a fantastic job servicing the region and that high standard of care will be reinforced when the new station becomes operational, bringing additional paramedics and equipment to the district.
“We’re planning for the Morayfield Station to operate 24-hours per day and be staffed by 17 paramedics.
“It will also house the QAS District Office, a 10-bay ambulance vehicle storage area and a carport area for five non-acute QAS vehicles.
“That means more paramedics and ambulances on the road, ready to help where needed.”
Construction will begin later this year.
