Moreton Bay: Beautiful sunny Friday ahead followed by cloudy but warm weekend

After a week of mild temperatures find out what to expect this weekend

MORETON Bay is set for a sunny Friday hitting a top of 26 degrees, with a partly cloudy weekend and temperatures in the mid 20s.

Spring is getting warmer in Moreton Bay, as shown in the chart above which tracks the long-term trend.

A typical spring day is around one degree warmer now than it was 50 years ago.

Similar warming trends are recorded closeby on the coast at Brisbane Airport and inland at Amberley, Archerfield and Logan weather stations.

It turns out Brisbane has the most 'nice' days of any major centre in Australia, with an average of 105 'nice' days per year.

In the meteorological study, a 'nice' day for citydwellers is warm (18 to 29 degrees) with low humidity, no rain, light winds, and at least some blue sky.

Alice Springs and Mildura followed Brisbane, each with 81 'nice' days per year, while Darwin had the least 'nice' days, with only three.

Ferny Hill parent Renae remembers what it was like growing up in the area.

"There were a lot more storms and heavy rain during summer compared to now," she says.

"We have set up tanks and automated reticulation for our veggie gardens as I was finding watering every few days wasn't providing enough water with the rainfall being so scarce.

"We also find we are having to top the pool up more than previously.

"I definitely don't find winters as cold anymore either."
