A court north of Brisbane has heard allegations that a receptionist defrauded the Moreton Bay hair salon where she worked.
Atalia Bo Walter, 31, appeared in the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on June 11, 2024, charged with fraud/dishonest application of property of another by employee and fraud-dishonestly gain benefit/advantage by employee.
Court documents alleged that between December 19 2022, and January 20, 2024, at North Lakes, Walter dishonestly applied to her own use a “chose in action’’ (defined by law as something a person does not currently own but can sue to obtain, such as a payment or debt).
The documents alleged it belonged to Becky B Hair, at a time when she was an employee of the salon.
Walter’s lawyer Peter Matus told the court his client, who lived in Pimpama, would like to see a brief of evidence before a committal hearing.
“If necessary, she will enter a plea of not guilty,’’ he said.
Magistrate John Costanzo ordered the brief of evidence be ready by July 23 and adjourned the matter for further mention on July 30.
