A man who ordered his wife to take her shirt off in front of their friends before calling her a sl*t has been blasted by a Brisbane Magistrate.
Caboolture Magistrate Peter Hasted heard the 32-year-old had guests at his home when he told his wife to remove her shirt before getting angry, smashing a patio door and telling her: “you’re a sl*t, you can get out of my house”.
The court heard the man had been drinking heavily on the night and was “extremely ashamed”.
However Magistrate Hasted blasted the father of three.
“(It’s) extremely degrading to his partner in life,” Mr Hasted said.
“This type of behaviour is deplorable.
“Domestic violence is insidious... in our society.
“Drinking is never an excuse for this type of behaviour.”
The man pleaded guilty to one count of breaching a domestic violence order and was ordered to serve 10-months on probation. No conviction was recorded.
