Hercules Rd State High School guidance officer, Kylie Bocking, named Redcliffe’s best teacher

She’s only been at her current school for a year but this teacher’s impact on students and staff has been so significant, she’s been voted as the area’s best educator.

She’s has only been at her current school for a year but already has her principal calling her a “super person” after making a massive impact in such a short time.

Kylie Bocking’s impact on Kippa-Ring’s Hercules Rd State School as the guidance officer has been felt throughout the community with Ms Bocking voted as the Redcliffe and Bayside Herald’s Best Teacher by readers.

Hercules Rd State High School principal Kathy Hotz said Ms Bocking’s recognition was well-deserved.

“She’s a person who is responsive, she not only cares about the kids but she cares about the staff as well,” Ms Hotz said.

“Kylie is very supportive of everyone, she always makes herself available at moment’s notice and helps greatly in any emergency situations.

“She is extremely personable and really prioritises staff wellbeing and providing the necessary support for staff and students in her role as guidance officer.”

Ms Hotz said there was no situation which displayed Ms Bocking’s willingness to go above and beyond to provide support for staff and students than when the school came up with the idea of establishing a health hub.

“We wanted to create something where we could support students and families in a lot of different ways in the last couple of years and when we spoke to Kylie about this, she was like a dog with a bone,” she said.

“She made a huge effort to bring in help and different services to help kids – we have a GP who comes in once a fortnight and a lot of other people from other services as well and a major reason behind this is the efforts of Kylie.

“There’s that old saying that if you want something done, ask a busy person, well that’s what Kylie is like.

“She’s a super person.

“She’s only been here this year and she’s just come in and fitted in so well with everyone and is a very valued member of our staff and school community.”
